HIDDEN SUFFERING…

HIDDEN SUFFERING…

Factory farming of chicken is an inhuman practice because it relies purely on production and efficiency. These chicken and hens have only one purpose, grow extremely fast in order to enrich some of the wealthiest mercantile owners of chicken farms.

Many of the problems seen in this industry shaped the conception of this theme-based collection, Hidden Suffering. Themes such as confinement, overpopulation, hardship, sickness, genetic engineering, slaughter, etc.

My contemporary jewelry and sculptures are built from chicken bones that have been processed, altered, crushed and transformed. Various recycled materials and different metals are also used. We are far from the so-called well-being of animals that implies the absence of thirst, hunger, physical constraints, sufferings, injuries and diseases. And so forth, having the liberty to have normal behaviors and to be protected from fear and distress.
